Application Checklist – Joint PhD in Educational Studies
An application to the Joint PhD Program is considered complete when the following items are submitted:
- Completion of the online application through the university system currently hosting the Office of the Secretariat.
- The application fee of $125.00 (Canadian) paid online through the Joint PhD website at time of applying.
- ALL unofficial transcripts with the grading scales must be uploaded to the online application system. Note: If the transcript is not in English, a notarized translation is required.
- Two Academic references.
- Additional required documents:
- Additional supporting documents, if required. Evidence of Research Competence is usually demonstrated by a master’s thesis; those who have not completed a thesis must submit evidence of equivalent research capability (ie. Major research paper or published articles (peer reviewed journals)). Merge these documents to the Research Plan.
English Language Proficiency
Applicants who have not completed a degree at a university in a country where the primary language of instruction is English and where English is not the official language must demonstrate proficiency in English to be considered for admission. Other restrictions via Home Universities may apply.
- A minimum score of 7.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no individual sub-category score less than 6.5.
- A minimum score of 100 on the Internet Based Test (iBT) version of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), including a minimum score of 27 in the Written component and a minimum score of 27 in the Reading component.
- A minimum score of 60 (Brock & Lakehead University) and 70 (University of Windsor) on the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) examination.
Deadline for applications
All application documents, including references must be uploaded to the online application system no later than October 1st.
